Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) describe the distressing feelings that can occur during pregnancy and postpartum. 


Perinatal is defined as the time from conception to one year postpartum. 


PMADs include:

  • Depression (PPD)
  • Anxiety (PPA)
  • Panic Disorder
  • Obsessive compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Postpartum Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Bipolar
  • Postpartum Psychosis (PPP)
